Bright Line Watch, an initiative housed at the Chicago Center on Democracy, has released a new report, based on its most recent survey of political scientists and a representative sample of the United States, conducted March 12 – April 15, 2020. The survey results show a sharp decline in perceptions of the state of U.S. democracy. Among political scientists, ratings of U.S. performance mainly declined on principles related to impeachment. Among the public, the gap has widened on key principles between the views of Trump supporters and opponents.
